- Bears head coach Ben Johnson said Monday that Williams (hamstring) won't practice during Week 5 and is still being classified as week-to-week rather than day-to-day, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
Johnson noted that Williams has incurred no unexpected setbacks in his rehab program while he recovers from the Grade 2 right hamstring strain he sustained in a Sept. 20 loss to the Vikings, but the Bears are continuing to proceed cautiously with their franchise signal-caller. With Williams set to miss his third consecutive game this Sunday against the Packers, Tyson Bagent will draw the start while Case Keenum serves as the Bears' No. 2 quarterback. Williams still has a chance at returning to the lineup for Week 6 versus the Falcons, but he'll need to practice in some capacity to have a realistic shot at being cleared in advance of that contest.
RotoWire via ESPN - Head coach Ben Johnson said Monday that Williams (hamstring) will remain out for the Bears' Week 5 game against the Packers, Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
With Williams set to miss a third straight game while he continues to recover from a Grade 2 right hamstring strain, the Bears will have Tyson Bagent direct the offense for the second week in a row. Williams hasn't practiced in any fashion since sustaining the injury in a Sept. 20 loss to the Vikings, but if he's able to get back on the field in some capacity during Week 5 prep, it would bode well for his chances of returning to the lineup in Week 6 versus the Falcons.
RotoWire via ESPN - Williams (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Jets, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
With Williams set to miss a second straight contest due to his hamstring issue, Chicago will once again turn to either Case Keenum or Tyson Bagent under center against New York. Keenum played well in Monday night's win over the Eagles, but Bagent has a real chance to get the start for Week 4.
RotoWire via ESPN - Williams (hamstring) remained a non-participant at practice Thursday.
Williams didn't participate in Wednesday's walkthrough, and he unsurprisingly remained sidelined Thursday when the Bears held a full practice. The 2024 first overall pick is expected to miss a second consecutive game Sunday against the Jets due to a Grade 2 right hamstring strain, which typically carries a multi-week recovery timeline. Chicago has yet to announce a starter for Sunday's game, with Tyson Bagent and Week 3 starter Case Keenum both in the running.
RotoWire via ESPN - Coach Ben Johnson said Williams is "getting better every singly day" but won't participate in Wednesday's walkthrough, Sean Hammond of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Williams exited a Week 2 loss to the Vikings in the fourth quarter due to a hamstring injury. He was considered week-to-week by Johnson afterward and then didn't practice at all before being ruled out for Monday's game against the Eagles. On Sunday, Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport of ESPN reported that Williams was diagnosed with a Grade 2 right hamstring strain, which is considered to be a 3-to-4-week injury. Johnson told Chris Emma of 670TheScore.com on Wednesday that "the direction has already been made" as it pertains to a Week 4 starting QB this Sunday versus the Jets, but who that may be between Case Keenum and Tyson Bagent isn't known.
