News

  1. The Eagles elevated Deguara on Saturday ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Rams.

Deguara signed with Philadelphia's practice squad in mid-September after spending time with the 49ers and Giants during training camp. The Eagles are in need of tight-end depth with Dallas Goedert (knee) ruled out for Week 4 and both Grant Calcaterra (back) and Eli Stowers (quadriceps/hamstring) still on IR. However, Philadelphia also elevated veteran Zach Ertz again Saturday, and all of Ertz, Johnny Mundt and E.J. Jenkins figure to be ahead of Deguara in the pecking order.

  2. The Eagles signed Deguara to the practice squad Tuesday, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports.

The Giants released Deguara before cutdown day. The tight end has played in 77 career regular-season games, logging 53 receptions for 471 yards and three touchdowns. The 2020 Packers' third-rounder will now get a shot to play for an Eagles team that is searching for additional tight end depth.

  3. The Giants released Deguara on Saturday.

Since his rookie contract with the Packers ran out after the 2023 season, Deguara has split time between the Jaguars and Cardinals the last two years, combining for six catches (on eight targets) for 35 yards and one TD in 27 regular-season appearances. He then joined the 49ers at the start of training camp but was cut Monday before joining the Giants, playing preseason Week 3 and then getting cut again.

  4. The Giants signed Deguara to a contract Wednesday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.

The 49ers released Deguara on Monday. The tight end has quickly found new work and may have a shot to usurp Chris Manhertz's spot on the 53-man roster with a strong showing in Friday's preseason finale against the Jets. Deguara is primarily a special teams player and will need to prove his versatility quickly to manifest any lasting staying power.

  5. Deguara was released by the 49ers on Monday.

The tight end was let go to open a spot for defensive lineman Viliami Fehoko. Deguara joined the Niners in late July after catching three passes for 21 yards and a score with the Cardinals in 2025. The third-round pick of the Packers in 2020 has played more on special teams than offense in each of the last three seasons.
