News

  1. Bell (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Chargers.

With Keon Coleman (ankle) and DJ Moore (shoulder) having been in jeopardy of missing Sunday's contest, there was a chance Bell would be needed to suit up. However, Coleman and Moore are good to go, meaning Bell's next chance to get on the field will come in Week 4 for the AFC East clash with the Patriots.

  2. Bell (coach's decision) is inactive for Thursday's game versus Detroit.

Bell will be inactive for another contest after being a healthy scratch for Sunday's 36-31 win over the Texans. His next opportunity to get on the field will come in Week 3 versus the Chargers.

  3. Bell (coach's decision) is inactive for Week 1 against the Texans.

Bell didn't appear on the injury report at all this week, so it appears the rookie fourth-round pick will be a healthy scratch. While Bell still has a promising long-term outlook after a solid Week 3 effort in the preseason, this doesn't bode well for anyone hoping for early-season utility. In his stead, veteran Greg Dortch, who was elevated from the practice squad Saturday, will get the nod on the active roster.

  4. Bell caught seven passes for 49 yards and rushed once for a 28-yard touchdown in Buffalo's 28-27 preseason win over the Steelers on Thursday.

The rookie fourth-rounder out of UConn led the Bills in both receiving and rushing on the night. He had missed both of Buffalo's first two preseason games due to a lower-body injury but returned to practice last week and was ready to go for the preseason finale. Bell is battling with Mecole Hardman, Trent Sherfield and Dante Pettis for the last spot or two on the final roster, but given Bell has more upside than those three teammates, there's a solid chance he'll be wearing a jersey in Week 1 against the Texans.

  5. Bell (lower body) participated in full-team drills Monday, Jon Scott of Channel 2 Buffalo reports.

The rookie out of UConn hasn't played in either of Buffalo's first two preseason games, but after practicing fully Monday, Bell appears on track to play in Thursday's exhibition finale versus the Steelers, per Alex Brasky of SI.com. Bell's injury during training camp may have pushed back his timeline for contributing on the field early this season, even if he gets a preseason game under his belt.
