- The Vikings placed Oliver (biceps) on injured reserve Tuesday, Craig Peters of the team's official site reports.
Oliver's move to IR was expected after the tight end was diagnosed with a torn bicep Monday. The tight end will likely miss most, if not all, of the 2026 season as he recovers from surgery. T.J. Hockenson and Gavin Bartholomew are now the only tight ends on the Vikings' roster, meaning practice-squad elevations ahead of Week 4 will likely include at least one more option at the position. The Vikings signed linebacker Kyle Van Noy to the 53-man roster in a corresponding move.
RotoWire via ESPN - Oliver was diagnosed with a torn biceps following an MRI on Monday and is expected to undergo surgery in the coming days, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
According to Fowler, Oliver is a long shot to make a full recovery from surgery before the end of the regular season, though the tight end may have an outside chance at being available in the playoffs, should the Vikings qualify. A key blocker for the Vikings, Oliver had taken the field for 56.9 percent of the team's offensive snaps through the first three games and recorded three receptions for 46 yards on five targets.
RotoWire via ESPN - The Vikings fear that Oliver sustained a torn biceps in Sunday's 23-16 win over the Buccaneers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Oliver will undergo an MRI on Monday as the Vikings look to determine the nature and severity of his injury, but if a torn biceps is confirmed, he'll be out indefinitely and could be a candidate for injured reserve. The 29-year-old tight end has been limited to just three receptions for 46 yards on five targets through the Vikings' first three games, but he fills a vital role as a pass and run blocker and has taken the field for 56.9 percent of the team's offensive snaps this season.
RotoWire via ESPN - Oliver (arm) has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com reports.
Oliver went to the locker room during the fourth quarter of Sunday's game and was promptly ruled out after being evaluated by medical staff. Gavin Bartholomew will be the top backup behind T.J. Hockenson for the rest of Sunday's game.
RotoWire via ESPN - Oliver caught his lone target for 24 yards during the Vikings' 9-3 win over the Bears on Sunday.
Oliver was listed as the co-starter at tight end with T.J. Hockenson, with the duo each playing 31 of 52 offensive snaps. Oliver's only target from Carson Wentz came late in the third quarter, when the duo connected for a 24-yard pass during a drive that ultimately ended in a punt four plays later. Oliver is up to a 3-46-0 line on five targets through two games, and his offensive upside will be limited while playing alongside Hockenson. However, the Vikings pass catchers as a whole should have an elevated scoring floor in Week 3 against the Buccaneers due to the expected return of Kyler Murray (concussion).
