- The Jets signed Sanders off their practice squad Tuesday, Eric Allen of the team's official site reports.
Though New York cut him at the conclusion of the preseason, Sanders re-signed with the organization as a member of the practice squad and was elevated for each of the first three games of the season. He went 5-for-6 on field-goal tries and drilled all five of his point-after attempts during that stretch, with his performance earning him a spot on the 53-man roster. Sanders should have more security after New York waived Blake Grupe in a corresponding move.
RotoWire via ESPN - Sanders reverted to the Jets' practice squad Monday.
Sanders made both of his kicks in Sunday's 31-24 loss to the Lions, converting one field-goal and extra-point attempt apiece. Through three games to begin the season, Sanders is 5-for-6 on field-goal tries and 5-for-5 on point-after attempts. Sanders is likely to handle kicking duties for the Jets in Week 4 versus the Bears, but because he's been elevated from the practice squad that maximum three times this season, New York would need to sign him to the 53-man roster.
RotoWire via ESPN - Sanders converted on a 42-yard field goal and made his lone extra-point try during the Jets' 31-24 loss to the Lions on Sunday.
Sanders' field goal in the third quarter reduced the Jets' deficit to 17-10, though he didn't end up attempting an extra point following each of the team's two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Through three regular-season games, the veteran kicker is 5-for-6 on field-goal attempts and 5-for-5 on extra-point tries. Sanders has been elevated from the practice squad three times, so he would have to be signed to the Jets' active roster in order to suit up for the team against the Bears in Week 4.
RotoWire via ESPN - The Jets elevated Sanders from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Sanders will once again be the Jets' primary kicker for the third consecutive week and is set to suit up for Sunday's game against the Lions. The 30-year-old has now seen all three of his practice squad elevations expended, meaning he will need to be signed to the Jets' active roster to kick for the team in Week 4 against the Bears.
RotoWire via ESPN - Sanders will kick for the Jets this Sunday at Detroit, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
It'll be Sanders' third elevation from the practice squad this season, which means the Jets will need to sign him to the 53-man roster thereafter if he's to continue kicking for them. They've also kept Blake Grupe around, perhaps hoping that he'll be ready for the job by Week 4.
