News

  1. Shakir turned seven catches (on eight targets) into 82 yards during the Bills' 29-26 loss to the Patriots on Sunday. He also lost a fumble.

Shakir's final stat line Sunday nearly matched the 8-94-0 receiving line (on 15 targets) across the first three games of the regular season. Most of the veteran slot receiver's yards came on a 51-yard connection with Josh Allen late in the second quarter, with the latter finishing the drive with a two-yard rushing touchdown. Unfortunately for Shakir, he also had the ball ripped out of his hands by Robert Spillane within the final seconds of the first half, though the Bills avoided any damage after the defense intercepted Patriots quarterback Drake Maye on the very next play. DJ Moore aggravated a previous shoulder injury during Sunday's loss, and while the shoulder is not considered a long-term issue, Bills pass catchers like Shakir, Keon Coleman and tight end Dalton Kincaid would all see more targets from Allen if Moore cannot play in Week 5 against the Rams on Monday, Oct. 12.

  2. Shakir caught one of his three targets for six yards in the Bills' 24-16 win over the Chargers on Sunday.

Shakir played 71 percent of the Bills' offensive snaps in the contest but caught just one pass. The wide receiver was bullied in coverage while Josh Allen struggled on a day when the team's offense combined for five total turnovers.

  3. Shakir brought in three of six targets for 38 yards and returned one kickoff for 11 yards in the Bills' 41-31 win over the Lions on Thursday.

Shakir played a complementary role once again, and although he did finish tied for second in targets on the Bills, he was only third in receptions and fourth in receiving yards. He's seen Dalton Kincaid take on a much bigger role in the passing game over the first two games of the season, but the wideout is still averaging 6.0 targets over that same span and could be due for a boost in workload if DJ Moore misses any games with the shoulder injury that knocked him out of Thursday's contest late in the second quarter. Shakir will next take aim at the Chargers defense in a Week 3 home matchup on Sunday, Sept. 27.

  4. Shakir caught four of six targets for 50 yards in Sunday's 36-31 win over the Texans.

Shakir finished a distant third on the Bills in receiving yards behind Dalton Kincaid and DJ Moore, each of whom reached the 100-yard mark. Moore paced the team with eight targets in his Bills debut, while Shakir and Kincaid tied for second with six apiece. Shakir gets most of his opportunities on short passes near the line of scrimmage, so he's likely to keep getting looks from Josh Allen after leading the team in targets each of the past two seasons, but most of the downfield opportunities should go to alternative options, thus capping Shakir's ceiling. Buffalo will play its home opener Thursday against the Lions.

  5. Shakir (undisclosed) is not listed on the Bills' Week 1 injury report Wednesday.

Shakir dealt with an unspecified injury last month, but he's good to go for Sunday's opener against the Texans. With DJ Moore now in Buffalo and Dalton Kincaid healthy headed into 2026, Shakir will have added competition for targets this season. He's a low-ceiling WR4/5 in fantasy.
