- Slayton (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Commanders in London.
Even though the Colts' depth at wide receiver will be tested in Week 4 with Keenan Allen (groin) inactive and Alec Pierce (heel) out for a second straight game while on injured reserve, Slayton apparently needs more time to get acclimated after signing with Indianapolis on Sept. 21. With Slayton being a healthy scratch, the Colts will proceed with Josh Downs, Laquon Treadwell, Ashton Dulin, Deion Burks, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine and Anthony Gould as their available options at wideout.
RotoWire via ESPN - Slayton could make his Colts debut Sunday against the Commanders in London after the team ruled fellow receiver Keenan Allen (groin) out for the Week 4 contest.
Slayton was signed by the Colts on Sept. 21 after being released by the Giants prior to Week 1. He wasn't quite ready to make his Colts debut in Week 3, but with Allen out Sunday and Alec Pierce (heel) on injured reserve, Indianapolis' pass-catching options are thin beyond Josh Downs and tight end Tyler Warren. Given those injuries, Slayton could have a larger role by necessity against Washington, with Laquon Treadwell, Ashton Dulin (ankle) and Deion Burks also in the mix for more offensive snaps.

Slayton signed with the Colts on Monday, two weeks after being released by the Giants. The move was to bolster Indianapolis' depth at wide receiver due to the absence of Alec Pierce (heel, IR). However, Slayton is not quite ready to make his Colts' debut, and his next opportunity to do so is Week 4 against the Commanders on Sunday, Oct. 4. The Colts will roll with six active wide receivers Sunday in Josh Downs, Keenan Allen, Laquon Treadwell, Deion Burks, Anthony Gould and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine.
RotoWire via ESPN - Slayton agreed to a contract Monday with the Colts, Tom Pelissero of Netflix reports.
Slayton spent his first seven seasons with the Giants before he was cut Sept. 7. He posted a 50-770-4 receiving line across 17 games in 2023 but fell below 600 receiving yards in each of the subsequent two campaigns. The Colts will bring Slayton aboard to bolster their depth at receiver after Alec Pierce was diagnosed with a left heel issue that will sideline him for several weeks. Slayton could thus take on a significant role with his new squad, with Josh Downs, Keenan Allen, Ashton Dulin (ankle), Laquon Treadwell and Deion Burks making up the remainder of Indianapolis' receiving corps.
RotoWire via ESPN - The Giants released Slayton on Monday, Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports reports.
In the wake of Slayton getting cut, New York boasts a receiving corps led by Malik Nabers (knee) and supplemented by Darnell Mooney, Malachi Fields and Odell Beckham. Considering the group is only four deep ahead of Week 1, it wouldn't be a surprise if Monday's move is merely procedural, and Slayton could be back on the Giants' practice squad, from which he would be allowed to get elevated a maximum of three times on game days.
