News

  1. Szmyt made both of his field-goal attempts and all three of his extra-point tries Thursday in a 27-24 win over Pittsburgh.

Szmyt's first field goal was pretty clutch, as he nailed a 44-yarder to give Cleveland an eight-point lead midway through the fourth quarter. However, the second-year kicker's next FG was much more dramatic — he sailed a 56-yarder through the uprights with 10 seconds remaining to give his team a three-point victory. Szmyt has quietly emerged as one of the most consistent kickers in the NFL, as he's made 22 consecutive field-goal tries dating back to last season. His 56-yard game-winner Thursday was the longest of his career so far.

  2. Szmyt made both of his field-goal attempts and his sole PAT in the Browns' 21-18 win over the Panthers on Sunday.

Szmyt made field goals from 45 yards and 48 yards during the contest, with the 45-yarder coming in the fourth quarter to stake the Browns to a 13-12 lead. The kicker moved to a perfect 6-of-6 on field goals and 4-of-4 on PATs through three regular-season games in 2026.

  3. Szmyt made all three of his field-goal attempts and both of his extra-point tries during the Browns' 23-19 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday.

Szmyt tied things up at 3-3 with a 50-yard field goal midway through the first quarter before connecting on two 34-yard field goals across the next two quarters. It was the first time since Week 11 of the 2025 season that Szmyt connected on three field goals, and his production will likely fluctuate on a week-to-week basis given the Browns' inconsistency on offense. He's made all seven of his kick attempts (four field goals, three extra points) through the first two games of the 2026 regular season.

  4. Szmyt made his only field-goal attempt and extra-point try in Sunday's 34-10 loss to the Jaguars.

Szmyt provided the team with their first points of the regular season, knocking through a 26-yard field goal with 8:31 left in the third quarter. With Cleveland expected to be in for a long year, the kicker is likely on track to have limited opportunities this season.

  5. Szmyt converted all three of his field-goal attempts and went 4-for-4 on PATs in Thursday's 37-13 preseason win over the Patriots.

Szmyt is the only kicker on Cleveland's roster, and the Syracuse product rewarded the Browns' faith in him with a perfect performance Thursday. He served as the Browns' kicker for the entire 2025 regular season, connecting on 24 of 27 field-goal attempts. The Browns are expected to have one of the league's worst offenses again in 2026 after scoring the second-fewest points in the 2025 regular season, so Szmyt's opportunities are likely to remain limited, Thursday's busy exhibition outing notwithstanding.
