- Valdes-Scantling was signed to the Chargers' active roster Wednesday.
Valdes-Scantling inked a deal to join the practice squad with Los Angeles on Sept. 15, and he will now get a shot with the active roster. The 31-year-old will provide the team with another veteran option at wide receiver ahead of Week 3 versus the Bills.
RotoWire via ESPN - The Chargers signed Valdes-Scantling to their practice squad Tuesday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Valdes-Scantling spent training camp with the Cowboys but was released on cutdown day. Valdes-Scantling has ample NFL experience, though his numbers have dwindled since he recorded 687 receiving yards with Kansas City in 2022. Valdes-Scantling's signing was in response to a slew of Week 1 injuries to wideouts Ladd McConkey (ribs), Derius Davis (undisclosed) and KeAndre Lambert-Smith (hamstring). With that said, Valdes-Scantling isn't likely to make a major fantasy impact at this point in his career, even if he logs some time on the gameday roster.
RotoWire via ESPN - Valdes-Scantling was released by the Cowboys on Sunday, NFL reporter Jordan Schultz reports.
Valdes-Scantling was unable to secure a depth role in Dallas' top-heavy wide receiver room. With 116 games of regular-season NFL experience under his belt, plus 12 playoff contests, MVS could appeal to another team in search of a veteran presence that can stretch the field at wide receiver.
RotoWire via ESPN - Valdes-Scantling failed to bring in his only target in the Cowboys' 17-7 preseason win over the Seahawks on Saturday.
The veteran speedster was blanketed down the left sideline on his one target. Valdes-Scantling was dealing with a knee injury earlier in the week and was slated to get an MRI as recently as Thursday, so his availability for Saturday's game was somewhat surprising. Valdes-Scantling will hope to make a better case to stick as a depth option at receiver in Dallas' second preseason game next Saturday night on the road against the Cardinals.
RotoWire via ESPN - Valdes-Scantling (knee) will be sent for an MRI to evaluate his injury, head coach Brian Schottenheimer said Thursday, Patrik Walker of the Cowboys' official site reports.
Valdes-Scantling suffered an injury at practice Saturday, which has now been revealed to be a knee injury. A return timetable won't be established until the results of the MRI are know, but the veteran wide receiver almost certainly won't suit up for the Cowboys' preseason opener against the Seahawks on Saturday.
